Eligibility
Do You Qualify?
You must work in a bargaining unit represented by a participating labor organization whose employer contributes to the Trust under a written agreement. Coverage begins on the first day of the month following satisfaction of the eligibility waiting period, provided required contributions have been received.
If you retired from a participating organization, are under age 65, and are not yet eligible for Medicare, you may qualify for retiree coverage. Retiree coverage ends at the end of the month before Medicare eligibility begins, or as otherwise stated in the SPD.
Eligible dependents generally include your spouse and children to age 26, as defined in the SPD. The Trust Office may request documentation before a dependent is enrolled. Membership in a union alone does not create eligibility.
