ERISA health plan coverage built by responders, for responders.
Behind The Lines Medical Trust (BTLMT) delivers high-quality, affordable ERISA health plans exclusively to America's emergency responder community — pre-65 retirees and active duty personnel represented by organized labor.
For all of America's emergency responders.
BTLMT was built for every corner of the emergency responder community — and we are especially honored to serve the personnel too often forgotten in the "First Responder" conversation: corrections officers, detention deputies, and the EMS and medical professionals who stand alongside them. Membership is limited to America's organized and represented emergency responders.
EMTs, paramedics, and clinical staff embedded with response teams.
Detention deputies and specialists working in high-risk holding environments.
Correctional officers protecting facilities at the local, state, and federal levels.
Career firefighters, paramedics, and fire officers serving communities across the country.
Municipal, county, state, and federal officers on active duty and in retirement.
A trust built by responders, governed for responders.
We established BTLMT exclusively for emergency responders and their dependents. Our leadership is comprised only of emergency responders, attorneys who serve emergency responders, and highly specialized insurance administrators and underwriters who understand the unique needs of our people. Our trust currently provides ERISA plans and already represents active and at-work on-duty emergency responder personnel as members.
The nation's most experienced and credentialed ERISA health plan law firm, Groom Law Group, structured our trust to ensure full compliance with federal ERISA health plan laws. By structuring under federal law as a group health trust, BTLMT is overseen by federal regulators and can uniquely serve retired and active emergency responders in all fifty states.
BTLMT is organized as a Taft-Hartley Trust to provide group ERISA health plans for all emergency responders — fire, police, corrections, detention, and medical. Our board includes an organized representative from each profession and state in which we offer plans, bringing together the perspective and expertise from EMS, corrections, detention, fire, and police to offer guidance and governance to our trust and the members we serve.
